We looked for 3-4 month before deciding on our breeder. I knew that I wanted a mini goldendoodle and preferred to have a breeder in California. I looked at IG pup account and found that of pups I liked the best were all from Wine Country! You speak to Lynn or Jim over the phone prior to placing your application. Afterwards, most communication is over email. Prior to COVID, they would hold puppy socials. A lot of screening was word of mouth, as there is a big Wine Country family in the Bay Area. Their pups all have a very consistent look. You know it is a Wine Country pup!

*Pros*
Lynn and Jim are great in helping you pick the right pup for your family. They know the behavior of each pup and have a separate temperament test prior to gotcha day. Lynn will send you pictures of all the pups (sometimes daily) as soon your litter is born.

*Cons*
She doesn’t provide single glamour shot photos of each pup... so you don’t have very early single pup photos.

My boyfriend and I have been talking about getting a dog for years now and have always known that we wanted a golden doodle. We knew a few people who got their pups from WCGD and they had nothing but wonderful things to say about them. Overall, the overwhelming amount of positive reviews for WCGD made our search process very simple. We communicated with the Fleck's via email and the phone. They are very responsive and always got back to us very quickly with any questions we had.
WCG is a small, family run business and every interaction with them proves this. The Fleck's are extremely personable and genuinely look for families and individuals that will provide fantastic homes for their dogs. They also care for their pups to a phenomenal extent and the work they put into their business and puppy care proves this. The Fleck’s sent tons of videos and photos of the puppies from your litter while waiting for pick up day. After puppies are born and before they go to their forever homes, they do sound-desensitization training with them and begin crate training. Both of these were immediately evident the moment we brought Porter home - he took to his crate nearly immediately and has never once been frightened by noise. On pick-up day, you are given the puppies behavioral test form so that you can gauge the fit level for a pup in your family. Additionally, it goes without saying that their dogs are absolutely gorgeous. WCGD's have a very distinct look and are noticeable anywhere.

The only con I can name is the waitlist. If you are looking for a puppy pretty soon, WCGD is probably not your best bet. We waited nine months for Porter, but their waitlist can be up to a year or more at times. It is definitely a tedious waiting period, but all of it was worth it the moment we brought Porter home.
