I got my multigenerational golden doodle, Bodhi, in June 2016 at Cutie Doodles. There was a litter, recently born, and I got the last one..a male. I drove an hour to meet Bodhi when he was 5 weeks old. I really needed to use the bathroom, and not allowed into the house to do so. That was a red flag, but I really wanted the doodle, so complied. They told me to go to a nearby mall instead and find a bathroom there.

I learned right away that the litter was living with the guardian family, who brought them in at 5 weeks for prospective owners to meet. After that day, the puppies went back to guardian family until they were 7 weeks and ready for pickup. I picked up Bodhi at 7 weeks.

Yes, the price was good. The owner lectured me about the benefits of multigenerational over mini doodles. (Mine was a multi. Ha...I later noticed that they are breeding minis. ..whatever!)

I love Bodhi, who has always been obedient, loyal and well mannered. He was well trained and socialized as a puppy. He gets plenty of exercise, every day at dog parks.

I also believe that he either has rage syndrome (likely genetic) or had been traumatized at the guardian dog owner's home. Since I got him, Bodhi has been sensitive to comb or brush, intermittently grumpy and easily startled. Otherwise, he will be calm and relaxed, though often appear depressed or bored..hard to tell which.

He charges other dogs randomly, and has done this his entire life, since old enough to be off leash at a dog park. Most of the time, he will play and act like the perfect dog. However, for no reason, and without predictability, he will run to a dog (usually a doberman pinscher or rottweiler, and bark maniacally in its face, sometimes baring his teeth. He has never been harmed, but it is scary.

He has an appointment scheduled with our vet this week for more intensive blood work and a neurological workup. He will probably get an EEG and possibly an MRI brain scan.

I would not recommend Cutie Doodles, based on my personal experience!

My husband and I were looking for about 3-4 months before we finally decided. We didn’t find it particularly stressful or confusing, but it did take some research to figure out what kind of doodle we wanted and then once we decided, the breeder, and then which parents we wanted. Definitely time consuming! We communicated via email only. We looked at their website and Facebook. The reason that we ended up choosing Cutiedoodles was because my husband and I were walking around San Francisco in early 2018 and ran into a couple with a doodle. At the time, we were on the hunt to find ourselves a breeder and asked every person with a doodle where they got it from. The couple had a very cute doodle (but what doodle isn’t!) and told us they got it from Cutiedoodles. They said they had a good experience with the breeder. Once we knew this breeder was *real*, we decided to go with them and then went to work on figuring out which litter to put a deposit on.
Cutiedoodles was the most affordable breeder that we could find in the Bay Area. Living about an hour away from the breeder made the selection process and pick up way easier. LaCynne and Eric (owners) were also very responsive to our questions. She gave us an information packet to take home once we picked up our pup.
While they did provide us with information, we were left in the dark most of the times prior to our selection day. We did get a few puppy pictures, but they could just be found on Facebook. We didn’t get to see the dogs with the mom or their living environment.
Would also add that while 3/5 may seem harsh, we don’t regret getting Dottie from Cutiedoodles! She is the best little addition to our family and we love her immensely, and for that, we are thankful for discovering Cutiedoodles. Since getting her, we’ve met so many other people with pups from Cutiedoodles. That said, after seeing how much info and transparency other breeders provide, I feel like their process could be much better. You get what you pay for, right?
