We were looking for about three months. I absolutely found it stressful and confusing. First of all - the nature of not knowing if some breeders were real or not. I found some legitimate looking websites, with responsive individuals who would reply to me with their availability, pricing, etc, but then I'd try to find other sources (Instagram, Facebook group, Yelp, etc.) to validate their legitimacy, and would often find myself unsure if this was a trusted breeder. I probably contacted 25+ breeders, with varying levels of responsiveness from each. At the end of the day, I went with Almond Blossom Doodles because of a referral from a co-worker, whose family had gotten two dogs from them across the last 5 years. We communicated via email. I did not attempt to Facetime. I had a lot of trust in the breeder, given the very strong recommendation from my co-worker.
Fur-st of all, the puppies are SIMPLY GORGEOUS. As I reviewed their instagram and website, I was instantly in love with every litter and puppy. They had the endearing, beautiful teddy bear like appearance I wanted in my future fur-end. Additionally, the size of the f1b mini goldendoodles that they communicated (15-22 lbs) was the size I desired as well. They were very responsive, helpful and kind throughout the process. I think the unexpected benefit of the breeder that I am grateful for now is their Instagram presence and suggestion to all the new dog paw-rents, was to tag any photos on Social Media with the names of the two dog parents. I have connected with SO MANY other dogs on instagram that are half siblings to my Moosey. It is exceptionally fun and we have even met up with one of her littermates and also a half sibling from another litter. I am so glad the Instagram Almond Blossom Doodle community is strong, because I love sharing in the journey of puppy paw-renting with them online.
Honestly, the only con is the waitlist. We put down our deposit around early May 2020 and had our first puppy offered in Dec.
